**THIS EVENT WAS HELD ON FEBRUARY 2ND, 2012. FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE 2013 SYMPOSIUM, PLEASE CHECK BACK HERE SOON**
This symposium will address, for the first time, how medical professionals, dispensaries, cultivation centers and patients can operate their lives and business with pride, with confidence, and with the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are in full-compliance with the law.
No press, no politics, no judgment – just business planning for professionals who make it their business to help the sick residents of the District have safe access to the medicine they deserve.
NOTE: This is a private event and attendance will be strictly monitored. RSVP’s will not be accepted by anyone other than invited guests who have received a personal invitation.
Experts will present and take questions on the following topics
- Permitting and compliance for dispensaries and cultivation centers. This way you can keep your doors open and avoid (or at least keep to a minimum) costly business interruptions by District officials, the Department of Health or MPD who may not have the benefit of fully understanding the new law;
- Tax planning and IRS audit preparation. This is a very new industry and even experienced accountants may be unaware of how to categorize certain legitimate business expenses and deductions, or how to protect assets from liability. The last thing you need in addition to operating your new business at a profit is an unexpected tax bill or IRS audit.
- Insuring your investment. Let’s face it – an insurance “policy” is actually a legally binding contract. You can’t get financing without insurance. You can’t get certain permits without insurance. Many landlords will not lease space to you without insurance coverage. And most insurance companies have no idea how to write appropriate coverage for a legal medical marijuana business or for medical professionals recommending medical marijuana as an appropriate course of treatment.
- Preparing for scrutiny from enforcement agencies: It is no secret that Washington DC has the highest concentration of law enforcement agencies in the country. Businesses operating under the new law will be the subject of intense scrutiny and the last thing you need is to be caught unprepared. This seminar will help you institute best practices before law enforcement ever knocks on your door so you can operate with peace of mind.
Light breakfast and lunch will be included
